Hi Students and Parents:
Thank you so much for dropping off your work and picking up your new books and activities. I am impressed with your enthusiasm. Several of you are on Google Classroom. Some have even started some of the assignments. If your child has not signed up for Google classroom yet, please have them do so. Students can go to https://classroom.google.com/. Once they get into Google Classroom on the top right they should see a “+” sign. They need to click on that and select join class. My class code is 5yxzi57. Students can only view a couple of assignments. Starting Wednesday, students will be expected to check this daily for new and long term assignments. Tomorrow we will have out first zoom meeting at 9:30 a.m. We will talk about what you have done the past two weeks, go over some expectations and answer any questions you have. I plan to review questions students might have on math to prepare for the online math test. Looking forward to seeing all my students tomorrow.:) Below is my zoom invitation. This will also be posted on the class website and Google Classroom. Students who use a laptop can just click on the link. Students who are using a phone or iPad must download the Zoom app before clicking on the link. For those who prefer, they can to enter the Meeting ID: 982 115 627 when using their phone of iPad. Allyson Hubbard is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. Topic: Mrs. Hubbard's Class Check-in Time: Apr 1, 2020 09:30 AM Pacific Time (US and Canada) Join Zoom Meeting https://lla.zoom.us/j/982115627 Meeting ID: 982 115 627 Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow! Hello Parents and Students:
Wednesday we will be starting on Google Classroom. The majority of my class has had a parent approve the MyLLA form for each student to have their personal LLA email address. If you have not already done this for your child, I would ask that you do this ASAP. If you do not want your child to have their personal LLA address, would you email me to let me know that your child will only be accessing Google Classroom through your email account. I sent an invite to all parents and students (who have been approved by a parent to have an LLA email address). You can either accept that invite or you can click on this link https://classroom.google.com/. Once you get into Google Classroom on the top right you should see a “+” sign. Click on that and select join class. My class code is 5yxzi57. Once you click on that you should be able to view the class set up. At this point students can only view 2 assignments. Starting Wednesday, students will be expected to check this daily for new and long term assignments. I plan to have office hours. At this point, I am going to try 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 3:30-4:30. If these times don’t work for you, I will see what other times might work better. During these times, I will have my zoom account open for students to ask questions. I will also send out some invites where we will have a specific activity to do together. I have decided to extend the due date for our Inca final projects. The project is now due on Fri., April 10 rather than this Friday. My goal is to zoom with the entire class, so each student can present their project to their classmates. J Just a reminder students can pick up some supplies they will need for the upcoming weeks and drop of their work that was assigned before Spring Break tomorrow from 8:00-4:00. If your child is done with any of their AR books or their Library books, please return those as well tomorrow. Please let me know if you have any questions. We are in this together. Although I do not get to see all my wonderful kids in person for the beginning of this quarter, I pray this can be a meaningful fourth and final quarter for them in elementary school. God Bless, Mrs. Hubbard Hi Parents and Students:
I hope you have had a good Spring Break. I have enjoyed spending extra time with my family, baking, sleeping in and doing special activities with Alexis. Dr. Hermann emailed everyone this past week about our schedule next week. Monday and Tuesday will be In-Service days for the teachers where we will be receiving more training on Zoom and Google Classroom. Tuesday is also our last drop off and pick-up day for books and materials. There will be tables set up in the front of the school on the East end for our class. There will be boxes with teachers’ names on them. Place your green folder with all of your completed work in the Hubbard’s box and take the package I have left for you. If you are not available to do this Tuesday, NO PROBLEM. Contact me, and we will figure something out. If you prefer you can just take pictures of your work and email it to me. We have to be careful about our contact and if you prefer to do it all online that is great. I am including a list of what is due Tuesday at the bottom of this email. THE TABLES WILL BE SET UP FROM 8:00 A.M.-4:00 P.M. FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE. I am finalizing our class’ google classroom on-line account. All parents will be included on this so you can follow what your child is assigned. Last week, you should have received a request for a school email for your child. When you approve the permission slip that can be found on your MyLLA account, I will include your child’s personal LLA email on Google Classroom. The great thing about your child having his/her own LLA account is that they can view and complete all of their assignments without having to go through your email. By Monday evening, I will send additional information out pertaining to Google Classroom and our class code. As of now, my understanding is that students will start working on assignments from Google Classroom on Wednesday. Please do not worry about any of this now. Wednesday April 1, ha-ha- April Fool’s Day, is our launch. There will be math tutorials that you can watch as you do your math lessons that we usually complete as a class and then you will be completing the practice workbook sheets for each lesson that you usually complete as homework. Math chapter 7 will start up April 6. This coming week you will complete the final chapter 6 test on line. This will be the test that you take at the end of each chapter with 25 questions, but you will do it on line. I did not hear from anyone that there was a need for their child to have some device (computer or iPad) to complete their work. If anyone does have that need, please let me know ASAP. Because the class will be using Google Classroom and Zoom, every student will need to have access to a device to complete their work. Big news! Math facts and Accelerated Reader tests will be open to take at home to start 4th quarter. Students will still be expected to get permission by email or via zoom meetings with me to take any tests on books that they are personally reading. If you have a questions about what your ZPD range is, it is the same as what you had for third quarter. Students will be allowed to take tests on Literature books that we usually read together after we complete the book. There will be an assignment on Google Classroom to take the AR test. In this case, I do not need to give approval, since it will be an assignment. Please make wise decisions, full of integrity and grit as AR testing is opened up to complete at home! I am planning to set up a private zoom meeting next week with each student so we can discuss your personal AR goals. If you as the student would prefer to do this via email, we can do that as well. Your goal should be similar to what you set for third quarter. As we continue with distance learning, I will be setting up “office ours” where I will have my zoom on and you can pop in and ask me questions about what you are working on. I will let you know when those hours are as soon as I can. On Tuesday, I will be sending three core literature books home for you to read. Stargirl is first, The Trumpet of the Swan is next and then One Crazy Summer. The audios and the pdf’s of the books will be on Google Classroom. They are not as cool as the guy who says “This is Audible” but they are free and you will also have a hard copy of the books. The handouts will be uploaded on Google Classroom and if it works like I tried, you can just fill out the questions on-line and submit it to me. If that doesn’t we will work together to figure out what the problem is. If worst comes to worst, you can always send me a picture by email of your completed work. We will have to see what works best. As I work on classwork and do my lesson planning, I can see your faces and hear your wonderful voices. I truly miss each one of you and am looking forward to the day when we can meet back at school and in the classroom. I pray each one of you is well and stays well. We will get through this! Remember Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Love you lots! Mrs. Hubbard :) Work that needs to be returned to school on Tuesday, March 31. Please have all work in your green folder. Any AR books or Library books do not need to be put inside the green folder, they can just be dropped off in my return box.
